HO CHI MINH CITY UNION OF FRIENDSHIP ORGANIZATIONS (HUFO)

-The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO) is a socio-political organization, specialized in people – to – people diplomacy and plays the key role in foreign non-governmental organization (NGO) affairs.

-HUFO operates within the Law of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. It has its permanent office, legal status, its own stamp and bank account.

-HUFO operates in accordance with its own philosophy, objectives and statutes. It is a member organization of the HCMC Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations. It is also under the leadership of the HCMC Party Committee and the HCMC People’s Committee.

-HUFO has good cooperation with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of External Relations, the State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, the Service Company of Foreign Missions FOSCO and other organizations in order to fulfill its missions.

TASKS:

-HUFO carries out various and diverse activities to strengthen the mutual understanding, the solidarity and friendship, and enhance the economic, scientific and cultural cooperation between Vietnamese people in general, Ho Chi Minh City people in particular and peoples of other countries, supports the just struggle cause of peoples in the world, contributes to the common struggle for peace, national independence, democracy, development and social progress.

-HUFO acts as a focal agency for foreign NGO affairs, promotes and regulates material aid from peace, solidarity and friendship organizations, NGOs and individuals in other countries as contribution to overcoming the war consequences, promoting socio-economic development of the Vietnamese people. 

ORGANIZATIONS:

-HUFO’s Executive Committee comprises of Chairman, Vice Chairmen, Secretary General, Heads of Divisions, and Chair people of all member organizations operating on a consultative basis.

-The Standing Committee of the Executive Committee includes Chairman, Vice Chairmen, Secretary General, and a number of key members.

-The Standing Body of HUFO comprises of the Administration Division and 3 professional divisions (the International Relations Division, the INGOs Affairs Division, the Information Division)
