During their resistance war for national self-determination, the Vietnamese people received sympathy and support from pacifists all over the world. Among them were American people and even American soldiers, who protested against the war. Today, the fine relationship between the two nations endures and is developing in diverse fields, political, economic, education, culture, a.s.o.
To further promote the friendly ties between Viet Nam and the United States of America, the War Remnants Museum, in cooperation with the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO), the Ho Chi Minh City Peace and Development Foundation (HPDF) and Mr. Ron Carver, Associate Fellow, Institute for Policy Studies, holds a special exhibition named “Waging Peace – American Soldiers and Veterans opposing the War in Viet Nam”.
This exhibition aims to help Vietnamese and international visitors learn more about different forms of anti-war movements by American soldiers and veterans during the War in Viet Nam. Under the theme of reconciliation and addressing war legacies, this exhibition is also to provide an opportunity for exchange of experiences and feelings among peace activists, veterans and people of the two countries, and in contribution to the strengthening of the comprehensive bilateral relationship. Besides, this exhibition conveys a heartfelt message to the Vietnamese public and to the world about the friendship between Viet Nam and the United States of America.
More than 100 photographs and documents are on display in the exhibition, some of them being premiered in Viet Nam. The exhibition is open to the public from March 19 2018 to April 15 2018.
