Vietnam - Japan festival day in HCMC

(HUFO) On September 16, HUFO, the HCMC Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association (HVJFA) and the HCMC University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH) jointly held the Vietnam - Japan Festival 2018 to mark the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan (1973 - 2018).

 

 

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Cong Tanh - Chairman of HVJFA expressed his delight at the development of multi-faceted cooperation between Vietnam and Japan since the two countries established diplomatic relations on September 21st 1973.


Beside economic cooperation, the two countries have also focused on enhancing cultural and people-to-people exchanges by organizing annual bilateral festivals, such as Vietnamese Cultural Festival in Japan and Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival in Vietnam, contributing to a better mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries.

 

Japanese Universities Alumni Club (JUACH-CLB) offered 03 scholarships to USSH’s students (02 million VND per scholarship)


For his part, Mr. Kawaue Junichi - Consul General of Japan in HCM City underlined the importance of HCM City, a key region to expand co-operation in Japan - Vietnam relations. The diplomat also expressed his hope that the festival would be a driving force towards the celebration of 50th anniversary of Japan - Vietnam diplomatic relations in the next 5 years, contributing to the relation development between the two countries.

 


At the Vietnam - Japan festival 2018, visitors had a chance to experience traditional culture of Vietnam and Japan through a wide range of activities, including Ao Dai collection featuring Ukiyoe paintings, Ao Dai collection decorated with Tsumamin fabric flowers, Japanese tea ceremony, the art of tea in Vietnamese culture, the classic game of GO, Kendo Martial Arts performance, Yukata wearing (Japan’s traditional costume), Japanese souvenirs stalls, etc. especially the “For a better world” charity association founded by Mr. Nguyen Duc hosted a charity auction of paintings drawn by Le Minh Chau - an artist with disabilities and Japanese Universities Alumni Club (JUACH-CLB) organized a Mottainai Fair (selling/ exchange old goods to promote the principles of ‘reduce, reuse and recycle’) to raise funds to support poor students. Also, 04 dancing teams, namely Yosago, Minami No Hana, Fufuyo and Ichigo Ichie, performed Yosakoi - a unique style of dance in Japan during the festival.
